About My Practice

I help people get to the heart of what’s troubling them by exploring how they have been formed by their relationships with others.  Maybe you've been thinking about therapy for a while, but you've been hesitant to give it a try. You know you have things in your past you'd like to explore, but you're worried you might feel worse if you "bring it all up again" in therapy. That feeling you have inside of you is trying to tell you something, and the longer you ignore it, the louder it will get. Therapy is a safe place to allow that voice to be heard so that you can heal and live your best life. I started my own practice in 2017 because I believe in the power of therapy to heal the wounds in our past.

Background

I have a background in individual and family therapy with adults, adolescents, and children. I received my master's degree in mental health counseling from The Seattle School of Theology and Psychology and my bachelor's degree in psychology from Oregon State University. My therapeutic career started in a residential treatment program for teens in Seattle in 2009 and I later moved into outpatient therapy. My experience has taught me that often the concerns that bring people to therapy signal deep emotional pain from past wounds, often too painful to face alone. I see my role as a therapist to help my clients explore what is underneath their troubles so we can face them together.

Personal Bio

I believe that our emotions are just as valid a source of information as our intellect. That is why I explore what my clients' emotional experience is saying rather than trying to dampen or change them. I also actively fight against mental health stigma in my personal and professional life, and support organizations that do the same. I consider myself to be a feminist, but that doesn't mean that I dislike men. I believe that gender equality benefits everyone, regardless of gender identity. I do not claim to be an expert on racial and systemic oppression, but I am actively and regularly learning more on the issue and challenging my own biases. I have lived in Seattle since 2009, I'm married, and I have a dog named Rosie.
